Project Area:

The project will strategically target specific locations within the Bastar, Northern Hills and CG plains of Chhattisgarh for implementing its innovative solutions. The selection of these areas will prioritize proximity to the beneficiaries, primarily tribal farmers and smallholder groups, ensuring accessibility and direct impact on their agricultural practices.

Target Areas in Bastar and Northern Hills Zones:

Bastar Zone: Major districts like Bastar, Jagdalpur, Kondagaon, Kanker, Dantewada, Sukma, etc., and nearby areas or as per convenience. Identified villages or clusters within these districts that have a significant tribal population and a high concentration of smallholder farming communities will be considered as target areas.

Northern Hills Zone: Districts- Koriya, Balrampur, Sarguja & Jashpur, etc., and nearby areas or as per convenience. Villages or clusters in these districts that are home to smallholder farmers, particularly tribal communities, will be selected as target locations for the project implementation.

Some of the identified target areas may fall under the classification of "aspirational districts" of CG plains, which are regions identified by the Government of India for focused development interventions. These areas are characterized by specific developmental challenges and are prioritized for socio-economic growth and transformation.

Target Beneficiaries

The project aims to benefit specific target groups within the Bastar, Chhattisgarh plains, and Northern Hills zones of Chhattisgarh, focusing on tribal farmers and smallholder groups who form the backbone of agricultural activities in these regions.

  • Tribal Farmers: Primarily indigenous tribal communities engaged in agricultural activities, including cultivation of crops, horticulture, and animal husbandry.
  • Smallholder Groups (SHGs): Community-based groups involved in collective farming, micro-enterprises, and allied agricultural activities.
  • Target Population: The project area covers Bastar and Northern Hills zones, where approximately 70% of individuals are involved in agriculture and related activities.
  • Scheduled Tribe (ST) Population: In these zones, ST population constitutes a significant portion of the total population at 32%.

The project's focus on tribal farmers and smallholder groups aligns with the objective of promoting inclusive development and empowering marginalized communities in these zones. By leveraging digital technologies, knowledge dissemination, and modern agricultural practices, the aim is to improve the livelihoods, income generation, and socio-economic conditions of these beneficiaries.
