About Us The Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Kanker is a district level Farm Science Center established during 2007 by the Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR), New Delhi at Indira Gandhi Krishi Vishwavidalaya, Raipur, Chhattisgarh for effective transfer of agriculture technology to the farmers' fields in the district.
Our History The Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Kanker is a district level Farm Science Center established during 2007 by the Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR), New Delhi at Indira Gandhi Krishi Vishwavidalaya, Raipur, Chhattisgarh for effective transfer of agriculture technology to the farmers' fields in the district.
Our Mission The aims of KVK are Technology assessment and refinement through On Farm Trials, Front Line Demonstration of technology/products and Technology Dissemination through Training of Farmers, Rural Youth, In-Service Personnel, Conducting other extension activities such as Field Days, Kissan Melas, Exhibition, etc., and Production of Quality Seed and Plant Materials.
Our Vision On farm testing to identify the location specificity of technologies in various farming systems. Frontline demonstrations to establish production potentials of newly released technologies on farmers' fields and provide feedback. Training of farmers and farmwomen to update their knowledge and skills in modern agricultural technologies and training of extension personnel to orient them in the frontier areas of technology development. Work as resources and knowledge centre of agricultural technology for supporting initiatives of public, private and voluntary sector for improving the agricultural economy of the district. Create awareness about frontier technologies through large number of extension activities like Farmer fair, Field day, Strategic campaign, Ex-trainees meet, etc.
Dr. BIRBAL SAHU Senior Scientist and Head (PC) The Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Kanker is a district level Farm Science Center established during 2007 by the Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR), New Delhi at Indira Gandhi Krishi Vishwavidalaya, Raipur, Chhattisgarh for effective transfer of agriculture technology to the farmer’s fields in the district. The Kanker KVK has excelled in bringing modern technological packages at the farmers doorstep with the help of various instructional units. The KVK today has sufficient resources to impart training skills for not only the farmers but also the rural youth. The objective of Kanker KVK is to bring about improvement in productivity through transfer of economically viable and environmentally sound technologies on various aspects such as crop production, farm mechanization, horticulture, etc., and improve farm mechanization status of the district and rural entrepreneurship in agriculture and establish strong linkage with farmers and line departments for rapid developments in agriculture and reduce farm women drudgery.
