Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK), Narayanpuris established on January 2012. It is District Level Farm Science Centre established by the Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR) under Indira Gandhi Agriculture University, Raipur (C.G.). It is responsible for transferring agricultural technologies and research to the farmer's fields so that the farmer can gain the high productivity. The aim of Krishi Vigyan Kendra is to reduce the time lag between generation of technology at the research institutions and it's transfer to the farmer's field for increasing production, productivity and income from the agriculture and allied sectors on a sustained basis.
The first KVK was established in 1974 at Puducherry. The number of KVKs has risen to 731. The KVK scheme is 100% financed by Govt. of India and the KVKs are sanctioned to Agricultural Universities, ICAR institutes, related Government Departments and Non Government Organizations (NGOs) working in Agriculture. KVK Narayanpur was established in 2012.
The mission of KVK is Technology Assessment and Demonstration for its Application, Capacity Development and implement the mandate effectively the following activities are envisaged for our KVK.
1. On farm testing to identify the loaction specificity of technologies in various farming systems.
2.Frontline demonstration to establish production potentials of newly released technologies on farners' fields and provide feed back.
3.Training of farmers and farmwomen to update their knowledge and skills in modern agricultural technologies and training of extension personnel to orient them in the frontier areas of technology development.
4.Work as resources and knowledge centre of agricultural technology for supporting initiatives of public, private and voluntary sector for improving the agricultural economy of the district.
5. Create awareness about frontier technologies through large number of extension activities like Farner fair, Field day, Strategic campaign, Ex-trainees meet, etc. The eed and planting materials produce by the KVKs also be made available to the farmers.
6. KVKs produce quality technological products (seed, planting material, bio-agents, livestock) and make it available to farmers, organize frontline extension activities, identify and document selected farm innovations and converge with on-going schemes and programmes within the mandate of KVK.
Our vision of the KVK is to lead India towards attaining sustainable food, nutritional, save environment, natural resources i.e. soil and water livelihood security of rural household through agricultural, research and education. Act as a Agricultural knowledge hub with the scientists for the assessment, refinement & application of the agricultural technology to the farming community.
