About the Crop

Little millet (Panicum sumatrense) is one among the minor millets and is a member of the family Poaceae. The crop is native to India and is cultivated for its small sized grain on marginal lands of Asia and Africa. It is a short duration, annual, tetraploid (2n = 4x = 36) crop of semi-arid and sub-tropical climate. The crop is loaded with nutrients and thrives exceptionally well under challenging environmental conditions like drought, soil salinity and even high temperature. This nutritionally rich millet is a low maintenance cereal that holds potential benefits for human health at minimal cost, thus ensuring dual advantage to mankind.

FEATURES

Major components of LMTdb

SSRs

A collections of Simple Sequence Repeat (SSR) motifs identified across the little millet transcriptome along with their forward and reverse primer sequences.

DEG

A collection of Diffrentially Expressed Genes (DEGs) identified from the tissues, including secondary leaf, flag leaf and panicle under control and drought stress conditions.

Functional

A collection of all the transcripts of little millet from tissues, including secondary leaf, flag leaf and panicle under control and drought stress conditions obtained via RNA-Seq and assembly along with their functional annotations.

Pathway

A collection of biological pathways associated with little millet transcripts.

About Little Millet Transcriptome db

Little Millet Transcriptome Database (LMTdb) is a repository of transcriptome data of two treatments , viz, control and drought stress with three tissues, namely secondary leaf, flag leaf and panicle. The Little Millet Transcriptome database is an information rich resource of transcriptome sequences and functions, plant metabolic networks, molecular markers and differentially expressed genes of various tissues under varying conditions. This database is based on 3-tier architecture, developed in ASP.NET(C#) and SQLSERVER.

Message of Principal Investigator and Vice-Chancellor

"The little millet transcriptome database (LMTdb) was conceptualized upon completion of the transcriptome sequencing in 2017 with the aim of deciphering the genetic signatures of this largely unknown crop for many nutritional and abiotic stress attributes and providing scientific community an accurate and annotated genes related information. The database was developed with the view to provide information about most comprehensive part of the genome, the Transcriptome. The database contains various information for transcriptome sequence, functional annotation, microsatellite markers, DEGs and pathway information. The database is freely available resource provides breeders/scientists a portal; to search, browse and query data to facilitate functional and applied OMICs studies in Millet crops. The current release of the database provides transcriptome sequence form popular and cultivated variety of the little millet. "
