About Us 1. Teaching Activities During 2018-19 session, 24 students were admitted in the first batch for a four-year degree programme leading to B.Sc. (Ag.)Hons. degree and their classes were held at the College of Agriculture, Raipur. The College is currently functioning with 16 regular faculties, 1 librarian, 4 Assistant Grades, 3 supporting staffs 1 section officer and 126 students in four batches. Admission to B.Sc. (Ag) Hons. programme is done on merit basis through PAT examination conducted by CG Professional Examination Board, advertised through notification. The minimum eligibility for a candidate to appear in this test is that the candidate must have passed 12th of the 10+2 (Academic) scheme of examination with Agriculture/ Biology/ Mathematics group of the Board of Secondary Education, Chhattisgarh or an Examination declared equivalent to it with prescribed percentage of marks mentioned in the admission notification. Admission on self finance seats is given on the basis of PAT in the constitute college of IGKV. 2. Farm and Research Activities: The 78 acres of land has been fenced and about 50 acres of land is brought under cultivation. Rice, Pigeonpea, Finger millet and Turmeric etc. crops in Kharif and Wheat, Chickpea, Mustard, Coriander are grown in Rabi season and other vegetable crops & fruit crops viz. Apple Ber, Guava has been grown in both seasons successfully. Seed production programme on Wheat, Chickpea, Mustard and Coriander were taken under NSP and Seed certification agencies. Crop Cafetaria in college campus field has also been initiated. Mushroom production unit is also likely to be started soon. Medicinal and Aromatic plants are also established in college premises for practical to students. IRRI sponsored project, “Delivering genetic gains in farmer’s field/cereal seed system” has ongoing. 3. Extension Activities: Students are guided and trained with practical field work knowledge. Our History The College of Agriculture and Research Station, Mahasamund was set up in 2018 with foundation stone laid by former Agriculture Minister of Chhattisgarh Shri Brijmohan Agrawal on 1st October, 2018 at Village Kanapa (NH-53) of Mahasamund district. It is the constituent College of Indira Gandhi Krishi Vishwavidyalaya, Raipur. During 2019-20 the College started functioning in the DIET building of Education department, Mahasamund. The district administration has allotted 78 acres of land. At present, the college is functioning in the Kodar Resort (CG Govt.), Kanpa, Mahasamund. (Tourism Department of CG Government), Kanpa, which is situated on the NH-53 and 12 KM away from Mahasamund. The construction of College building will be started soon. However, the construction of boys and girls hostel building is under completion.

Welcome to the College of Agriculture and Research Station, Kanpa-Mahasamund, a constituent college of IGKV. There is no doubt that technology is powering India’s farming future, and to power this technology, agricultural sector needs bachelors and masters in agriculture skilled with knowhow of such future ready technologies and imparting the same in reshaping the traditional agricultural sector. Chhattisgarh is primarily an agrarian state and almost 80 % of the total work force is engaged in Agriculture and allied sectors. However, as assessed at National level, there is a dearth of skilled human resource to give a fillip to this sector. As such, the proposal of setting up of new Agriculture Colleges get due importance to further strengthen the capacity of IGKV to develop quality human resource for the purpose. The College of Agriculture and Research Station offers B.Sc.Ag.(Hons.)-four year degree program aim to produce Agri-technocrats as assets trained to lead in the field of academics, agro-based industry and extension oriented applications. Our University offers a diverse range of agriculture and allied subjects and students benefit from our faculty members’ expertise in teaching, research and extension. Education is a shared commitment between dedicated teachers, motivated students and enthusiastic parents with high expectations. We have a clear vision for the future and our faculties and graduates are prepared to meet the needs of our changing world. Our faculties are guiding the students for their academic improvements and to take up various competitive examinations as well as to establish their own venture in the field of agriculture.
