About Us College of Food Technology is a constituent college of Indira Gandhi Krishi Vishwavidyalaya, Raipur, established in the year 2020 to impart quality education in the field of Food Technology. In this programme, B. Tech. (Food Technology) degree will be awarded and the college has adopted the latest syllabus to fulfill the demand of industry and market as approved by Indian Council of Agricultural Research, New Delhi.
Our History The College of Food Technology was sanctioned by the Government of Chhattisgarh in 2020 as one of the constituent colleges of this agricultural University to fulfil the academic and practical aspirations of the people of Chhattisgarh. It is a first college of Chhattisgarh offering B. Tech (Food Technology) 4 years degree programme including In-plant Training of one semester in food related industries. The intake capacity was 24 at the start of programme and now increased to 36 seats.
Our Mission The College aims to develop Food Technologist who thrives in the field of food processing technology, food nutrition, food quality and safety, value addition, preservation, product development and post-harvest technology. The vision of this college is to develop trained human resource with strong understanding of Food Processing & Technology including Food Microbiology with quality and safety aspects to ensure sustainable food security in the society. The mission of this college is to advance and spread understanding in the area of food science and to become a preferred destination for undergraduate and graduate studies.
Our Vision • To develop quality professions through higher education in food technology so they can pursue careers in the food industry, academia, or governmental organizations. • To conduct basic and applied research in the areas of food technology that will benefit farmers, food business, and consumers. Objectives • To impart education in depth and comprehensive knowledge of the Food Technology aspects • To trained the students in practical knowledge and also capacity building with managerial skill and professional attitude in the field of food technology. • To carryout basic and applied research in different fields of food technology: processing, value addition, food packaging, nutrition, food security and safety, biochemical and microbiological aspects • To disseminate the innovative and viable technologies for food and allied industries. • To provide technical advice and guidance to the entrepreneurs in the state and the country. • To create nutritional awareness among the rural masses in particular and socio-economically poor people of society through extension activities regarding food and human nutrition.
Dr. ANOOP KUMAR DAVE Dean Food Technology is a branch of science that deals with the techniques involved in production, processing, preservation, quality management, packaging, labeling, capacity building and skill development in food processing and creation of value chain, entrepreneurship development and distribution of food products. The field also involve techniques and processes that are used to transform raw material into processed products, reduction in post-harvest losses etc. The College aims to develop Food Technologist who thrives in the field of post-harvest, food quality and safety. The vision of this college is to develop human resource with strong understanding of Food Processing & Technology including Food Microbiology with quality and safety aspects to ensure sustainable food security in the society. The mission of this college is to advance and spread understanding in the area of food science and technology and to become a preferred destination for undergraduate and graduate studies. Looking to the new era of food related activities in India and abroad, in Chhattisgarh also good employment opportunities are recognized in fields like: processing industries of cereals and grains, fruits and vegetable, spices and masala; bakery and confectionery industry; Food Packaging Industry; Meat, Poultry and Fish Processing Industry; Tea and Coffee Processing Industry; Oilseed Extraction and Refining Industry; Milk Based Processing Industry; Frozen Food and Cold Storage Industry; Sugarcane Industry; Industrial Warehouse; Food Process equipment Design and Operation; Food By-product Utilization Industry. The course curriculum is also designed to train young students to become good entrepreneur in areas of Bakery, Jam and Jelly, Pulp, Nectar, Beverages, Juices, Frozen and dehydrated Products, RTS (Ready to serve), Millet based products, Flour milling, Pasta and Noodles, Starch based packaging material, Tuber roots starch extraction.
